Train, who adores her cat grass, has now eaten through both of her plants. Usually we have one plant inside for her to nom on, and the other gets to go outside and recover. Unfortunately this time we left the ‘recovery’ plant out where Train could get it. So now she has no cat grass at all!
Rather than going and buying some more from a nursery, we decided to try and grow some. And I must admit, we even took shortcuts with that! We picked up some Mr. Fothergill’s ‘easy to grow’ cat grass seed raiser kit.

All I had to do was put some of the provided potting mix down, then the seeds, then some more potting mix. Keep it moist, it says, and you’ll have cat grass in no time.
I was doubtful. Sure, it was grass, but I have a habit of killing plants without even knowing how. But look at it go!

Hilariously, if it hadn’t been for me making this post I probably would have killed the grass, as I just re-read the instructions and they say I should have removed the lid a few days ago. Oops!

…Much better. I think I’ll give it a day or two before I give it to Train. That is, if she doesn’t find it before then!

We’re just starting to attempt to contain our nine cats, so this is very timely! I will have to get some so my kitties can still have their grass.
We already had a Catnip cat enclosure but we hadn’t stopped them from going outside except at night. Now we’ve extended the cat enclosure and we’re about to extend it again, to cover the existing cat flap, so they won’t be able to get out without us opening a door. It’s a huge challenge to persuade nine cats ranging in age from 15 to three that they can’t go where they please any longer! I think getting some grass for them my make them just slightly happier :)
I bought one of those! My damn cats prefer to eat the grass growing between the cracks in the concrete… but they do nom this one occasionally (I think to please me, lol)

You did much better than me with that stuff. The best I got was what looked like skinny brown worms! So I stick to buying the biggest, healthiest looking pots at the nursery. At least that way Fui and Suey get a couple of weeks of grass before I manage to kill it, rather than it being dead on planting! Ha!
