Vote My Pet is a competition to find the next furry face of Advocate. If you look closer, it is also a big social networking experiment.
I’m Dr Katrina Warren and along with Toby, Archie and Milly we have been the faces of Advocate – the most complete all-in-one parasite protection for cats and dogs – for quite a few years now. But I think it’s time my guys put their paws up and enjoyed some time out of the limelight – and let some other well loved pets have a go.
So, can your adorable cat or dog become the next face of Advocate, and star in a national advertising campaign?
Vote My Pet is a national competition to help me and my panel of judges. All you need to do is convince me, my panel of judges and the Australian public that your cat or dog has all round star appeal.
To enter, you need to upload a photo of your pet and then start getting them noticed. You earn points for activity (making comments, updating your status, participating in discussions) and you can see your pet ranked against other pets by electorate. (Federal electorate, based on your postcode). The final 3 pets in each state goes through to the judging panel, where the final decision will be made.

There’s a massive advertising push behind it – I’ve seen posters, heard radio advertisements and seen it all over the internet. I signed up Train so I could play around with the interface, already knowing that Train poses for no one let alone Advocate.
If you think your pet has got what it takes… and you have the spare time to earn points, then head over to the website to register.

The photo you uploaded is fantastic. Train looks very Presidential:)
Yes this is a big social network, like swapping votes with others online. But I disagree that the top 3 pets in the state go round to the final judgeing stage. Because some people seem to spend all day on the computer writing up things that do not make sense, and getting points for it. I don’t have much time to update my pets profile. But if you could help and vote Chong member for QLD (the bush cat) and have a look at his profile I would really appreciate that.
Hi Jane,
Voted for Chong, and had a look at your pets photos. I really Lliked the photo of your cat Chong on the fence post, with the horse in the background.
Its very interesting that you call it an experiment – as I have a friend (very intelligent & kind) who has been left quite disturbed after taking part in this pet site/ game/ marketing tool. She was near the top, had made a large number of ‘pet friends’ who at the last leg of the game stopped supporting her pet in order to pursue their pets ‘win’. I watched with intrigue & concern as a player had to either watch friends go down- in order to save others, or save their on pet. Disturbing for top 1-5 pets to say the least!!!
