I may just be looking in the wrong places, but I find it hard to find Australian or New Zealand made organic kitty treats. Dogs seem to have so much range to choose from, whereas cats seem to be put in a little side section with little or no offerings.
While Chew Chew are mainly focused on dogs, they do have a good range for cats as well, making both treats and meals. Their selection includes Chicken Jerky treats and meals such as Tuna and Roo Paella and Chicken & Sardine Tartaru. I have no idea how Train would react to this kind of food, she is fussy enough as it is!
Does anyone know of any cat specific Australian / New Zealand made treats, organic or otherwise?. The only other treat I’ve found is Feline Greenies.
I’ll be buying a selection from Chew Chew to see how Train likes them and will let you know how it goes!

Alvin loves his greenies.
I also picked him up some homemade treats from “The Pupcake Pantry”. they were at the Gold Coast Pet Expo can’t find a website but found an email thepupcakepantry@live.com.au. Not sure if they are organic but they came in different flovours. He loves the dried salmon ones that i got him but then again hes never been very picky when it comes to treats
What i really want it some good treat dispensers that make him work for his food
Fui and Suey love the Chew Chew bonito flakes. Suey would eat the whole packet and lick it clean if we let her.
We did try the Aristopet Cat Lover treats, but they weren’t very popular. I think the main problem with them was their size and heart shape- they were too awkward for the kitties to eat.
I have seen Pola Paws treats online, but never bought them. The website is under construction (www.polapaws.com.au), but the Animal Health Store has them (http://animalhealthstore.com.au/catalog/Treats-13-1.html).
Suey likes ZiwiPeak treats. They are not from Australia, though. They are from New Zealand, and from what we can tell, are made to reasonably high standards. When we were in Townsville, it was ZiwiPeak or the little dried fish from who knows where, so we thought it was the best bet. http://www.ziwipeak.com/nzl/home.shtml
We hope Train enjoys her Chew Chew taste test:)
PretaPawte – Thanks for the tip on The Pupcake Pantry. I will have to find out where they are stocked :)
Forever Foster – Well, if Fui and Suey like the flakes, Train should (hopefully!) like them too!
PolaPaws looks great… I might pick some up to compare to Chew Chew.
ZiwiPeak counts, I do try cover New Zealand stuff on savvycat too. I didn’t realise they did treats though, I’ve only ever seen the pouched/canned food.
Looks like Train will have plenty to taste test in the coming months :)
I found this site googling for the Pupcake Pantry – it doesn’t look like they have a website but they sell stuff at the Gold Coast Turf Club markets each Sunday (we got some stuff last weekend).
