RSPCA Millionpurrs

by savvycat on April 20, 2009

Today I read that the RSPCA in Townsville have been inundated with animals since the Easter break, which is a little sad. Pets don’t make good presents, people :(

On a more positive note, the RSPCA has announced their latest event – it’s just for cats, and you don’t even have to get your paws dirty! Of course, everyone knows that the Million Paws Walk is happening on Sunday, 17 May, but if you think kitty might get a bit anxious being around that many dogs, well, you now have a kitty-only alternative. And it’s all virtual.

Train!

(Click to go through to Train’s profile).

Introducing RSPCA Millionpurrs. Sign up for an account, create your virtual kitty and start getting sponsors! It seems to be in the early stages (I’ve seen some tweaking happening during my various visits) but you’ll be able to walk your kitty around the virtual world, buy your kitty and other kitties virtual toys (including items from special sponsors) and most importantly, raise much needed money for the RSPCA.

Virtual toys and treats.

I have to admit this seems like a huge step to me. It’s not often charities (or companies!) embrace the internet, and the RSPCA doesn’t have a big online presence currently (although they do have Facebook and Twitter accounts). This is something altogether different though, and I like it. A lot.

If you’ve signed up, let me know your user name / the link in the comments below so I can follow all the savvy cats. If you’d like to follow Train, follow the image link above.
