The Cat Protection Society’s annual photography competition is on again.
Got a cat photo you’re particularly proud of? Or perhaps you just think your kitty is too adorable to not be seen by the public?
Submit a 5″ x 7″ black and white or colour print to the Cat Protection Society before 4:00pm 8 May 2009, and your kitty could be shown on the walls of the Buzzzbar Cafe in King Street, Newtown, and you could win some awesome prizes.

Entry is $10 per photo for non-members, and $5 for members and you can enter as many photos as you like. Click here to download the application form and terms and conditions.
If you’re a serious photographer, you may not appreciate condition 6 :
“All entries become the property of the Cat Protection Society of NSW and may be reproduced for marketing purposes. By signing to agree to the terms and conditions of this competition, entrants waive intellectual ownership and the right to a commission”.
If this competition was run by a corporation who could afford to pay you for your photo, or had the ability to make stacks of money off your photo, that would be an issue. Because the Cat Protection Society is charity who, at most, will make a small profit from your photo should they choose to incorporate it on any merchandise, I am more than happy to give up my rights as a photographer to help them out. But, that is just my opinion. Feel free to tell me I am wrong.
The opening night and award presentation will be happening from 6pm at the Buzzzbar Cafe, and the photos will be exhibited until 8 June 2009.
Last year there were some great entries, and the Buzzzbar Cafe was packed out on opening night, so if you’re planning on coming down, I’d get there early.
